I have to say, it does look a little suspect. A few years ago there was a push to open access journals in the medical sciences, but most journals I know of found open-access unsustainanle financially; except BioMed Central maintained by the NIH in the USA. The fact that some othe lead authours of articls are using lycos and aol as email addresses really raises alarms for me too.
